Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming sci-fi thriller Uglywhich was directed by Italian: (Terminator: Salvation).
The film is set in “a futuristic world that requires cosmetic surgery at 16, Tally is eager for her turn to join the rest of society. But when a friend runs away, Tally embarks on a journey to save her that turns everything she thought she wanted upside down.”
The film is based on the 2005 novel and, over the years, is the type of story that has become more relevant. The film stars King Joeywho said: “I think it’s extremely relevant that we’re doing this now.”
McG said: “The film is really about beauty as an interior. It’s a commentary on what we’re experiencing today, where so many people can’t just take a photograph and post it on social media.
“You have to filter it, you have to edit it, you have to do something to present this idealized version of beauty.
“And this is a time to say, ‘Take a deep breath, work on your inner game, love people for who they are, and accept yourself for who you are,’ and, strangely enough, that’s a much more fruitful way to live.”
Ugly The cast also includes Chase Stokes, Brianne Tju, Keith Powers, Charmin Lee, Jan Luis Castellano and Laverne Cox.
Ugly will be released on Netflix on September 13, 2024. The movie even has hoverboards!
