Peter Stormare (Clown, John Wick 2), Mayia Mitchell (The fans), AND Camellia of Belmont (Saved by the bell reboot) have joined the cast of the film adaptation of Until dawnproduced by Screen Gems and Sony’s PlayStation Productions.
Stormare is one of the actors from the original game and will reprise his role as therapist Dr. Hill. It’s pretty cool that they brought Stormare back for the movie.
They join the already announced cast Ella Rubin (The idea of you), Michael Cimino (Love, Victor), Ji-young Yoo (Expatriates) AND Odessa Azion (Sitting in the bars with the cake).
David F. Sandberg (Lights off, Annabelle: Creation, Shazam!) is set to direct the film, and it’s great to see him return to the horror genre. The project also reunites him with his Annabelle: Creation writer-producer My friend Gary Dauberman.
Sandberg said: “After Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation, I’ve been dying to get back into horror, and this film explores the many great subgenres of horror to create the most terrifying experience possible.
“Capturing the essence of the game but featuring new characters, it makes for a great standalone introduction to the world for newcomers, while also offering something new that fans of the game will appreciate.”
The film’s plot is still under wraps, but it has been described as “a terrifying, R-rated love letter to the horror genre, centered around an ensemble cast.”
The story of the 2015 game is set a year after the death and disappearance of twin sisters Hannah and Beth, when eight friends return to the mountain cabin owned by the parents of their friend Josh, the missing sisters’ brother.
Shortly after arriving, the friends realize that they may not be the only ones on this mountain. What follows is a funny and disturbing mystery tale involving a mysterious killer and cannibalistic Wendigos.
