Mr. Glen Powell It’s been everywhere since his last release The tornadoes to his recent films Anyone but you AND Hitman. He has become the leading man of Hollywood, especially among lovers of romantic comedies, like me.
I have seen 1 of the 3 movies I listed above and it was not The tornadoes OR Hitman. However, they are both on my must-see list, among the thousands of other films that were recommended to me during Comic-Con.
Powell was recently cast as a guest star in the first two The Griffins holiday specials that will air exclusively on Hulu. I’m a Halloween fan, I’ve never been inclined to watch The Griffins and my opinion on Glen Powell is still uncertain. The opinion will probably be defined after I finally find the time to see The tornadoes.
In a Halloween-themed episode debuting October 14, Powell will play “Patrick McCloskey,” the reigning champion of Quahog’s annual pumpkin-eating contest, alongside Derek Jacobi (Gosford Park, Gladiator) as the voice of Stewie’s beloved teddy bear, “Rupert.”
“Follow Peter and his friends as they try to dethrone the reigning champion (Glen Powell) in Quahog’s annual pumpkin-eating contest by any means necessary.”
The casting of Powell and Jacobi was announced during the Family Guy panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, with a Christmas special soon to follow.
Family Guy vocal stars include Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Jennifer Tilly, 1960-1969 by Gary ColeAND Michela Henrywho participated in the panel together with the executive producers Rich apple, Alec Sulkin, Steve CallaghanAND Kara Vallowwhich celebrated the 25th anniversary of the series.
Fox intends to wait until mid-season to bring The Griffins returns for Season 23. This marks the first time the animated series has not been included in the network’s fall schedule since 2005, after being canceled for a few years.
Here are some teasers that highlight: “Peter accidentally reveals his inability to throw a ball, Meg starts dating the giant chicken’s son, and Chris loses his earring in a ‘Lord of the Rings’-inspired escapade.”
“Also, Stewie discovers that his teddy bear Rupert was made in China and sets out to take him back there to meet his family.
“The series will also be a parody The White Lotuswhile the Griffin family is on vacation at a luxury resort, where Stewie fears that his new rich friends plan to sacrifice him to a volcano.”
Other parodies include, Top Gun like “Fat Gun” and “Alone,” plus parts about the Supreme Court in particular, Ginni Thomas and George Santos. Also, the real Pete Davidson is briefly seen, revealing his dating secret, “I text back right away!” Stewie will join in on some weed, and Lois will join them – While they get high together, Louis gets to hear Stewie speak for the first time.
At the panel, Borstein blew the crowd away by singing her version of the signature “Barbie” song “What Was I Made For,” featuring vocals by Lois Griffin. The performance was inspired by the episode’s moment, “You Can’t Handle The Booth Where MacFarlane Says the Characters That They’re Not Real.”
Will I tune in to this special episode? No. But I hope Family Guy fans get exactly what they want and desire in this episode and season 23.
