Intense trailer for gripping British thriller REAWAKENING about a missing child returned

A trailer has been released for the UK-set thriller Awakeningwhich follows a couple whose daughter disappeared ten years ago and who have never stopped searching.

As the ten-year mark approaches, they hold a press conference to relaunch the search, and someone claiming to be their daughter “returns,” much to the mother’s delight and the father’s suspicion.

The stars of the film Dr. Jared Harris, Juliet StevensonAND Erin Doherty. Awakening It is written and directed by Virginia Gilbertmaking his second feature film after directing Far away from home.

The full synopsis reads: “John (Jared Harris) and Mary (Juliet Stevenson) have lived with excruciating grief and the agony of uncertainty for the past decade.

“Their only daughter, Clare, ran away from home when she was fourteen and has never been seen again. When Clare (Erin Doherty) returns, now a young woman of 24, Mary is overjoyed.

“But John comes to believe that Clare is not who she says she is… As old tensions resurface, a gripping search for the truth unfolds.”

This sounds like a really fascinating story and reminds me of the real case of the 23-year-old Frenchman who impersonated the Texan teenager who disappeared in 1998.

He moved out with his family and everything before being discovered by a detective on the case. We’ll have to see how this story develops, because it seems like it could go either way.

Awakening will be released in the UK on September 13. There is no US release date yet, so stay tuned.
