When asked about the still beings and the 616 universe, Marvel newbie Harrison Ford was left puzzled.

1960-1969, 1969-1970, 1969-1971, 1969-1972, 1969-1973, 1969-1974, 1969-1975, 1969-1976, 1969-1977, 1969-1978, 1969-1979, 1 969- will play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, President of the United States, in Captain America: Brave New Worldand we just found out, via a Comic-Con video, that his character will transform into Red Hulk!

He put on quite a show at the convention, showing off and acting like a giant for the crowd, but if you want Ford to give his take on the history of the MCU or the inner workings of Marvel, he’s not that busy.

At Comic-Con, during an interview (via Variety), ScreenRant told Ford:

“‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ created anchor beings, which means if they die, the universe dies. Who do you think the anchor being in 616 would be? The universe you’re in.”

Ford seemed completely taken aback by the statement and the question, then replied, “616? I’m in the 616 universe? I’m out of my orbit!”

Ford left and his reaction went viral on social media. He spoke fondly of Marvel when answering an earlier question about how the MCU stands out from its other iconic franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

“It’s a completely different cut of cloth, isn’t it? Free from some of the normal constraints on the imagination. It’s delightful to handle and it’s fun. The people I worked with were fantastic. The director, Julius Onah, did a fantastic job. Mr. [Anthony] It’s a lot of fun working with Mackie. We had a lot of fun. I liked it.”

In the MCU multiverse, Earth-616 is known as “The Sacred Timeline” and is the location of all the events that have taken place in the MCU films. Not that Ford knew that.

He has always shown a hilarious disinterest in the fan-obsessed minutiae of his beloved franchises. When once asked whether Han Solo or Greedo shot first in the original Star Wars film (a debate fans have debated for decades), Ford once infamously responded, “I don’t care.”

Ford is taking over for Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the MCU from the late William Hurt. Speaking to Inverse last year, Mackie recalled being so intimidated on the first day of filming Captain America: Brave New World with Ford. Mackie said:

“I couldn’t remember my lines. He’s Harrison fucking Ford. There’s this aura about him. But he dissipates it very quickly because he’s such a cool guy. He’s everything a movie star should be. He’d be like, ‘Let’s shoot this shit.’ And everyone was like, ‘Yeah, let’s shoot this shit.'”

Ford also spoke with Variety on the Comic-Con press line, joking about the motion-capture process required to transform him into the Red Hulk.

“What did it take? It took not caring. It took being an idiot for money, which I’ve done before. I don’t want to belittle it. I’m just saying you have to do certain things that your mother wouldn’t want you to do, or your acting coach, if you had one. But it’s fun and I enjoyed it. I had a lot of fun with it and I’m happy with the response we got to the trailer.”

Captain America: Brave New World will be released in theaters next year, on February 12, 2025.
