Jensen Ackles will return to play Soldier Boy in the fifth and final season of Primie Video The boysand then it will have its own prequel series set in the 50’s titled Vought Rise.
Soldier Boy is Vought’s original superhero, and while the character was seemingly killed off at the end of The boys Season 3, Season 4 finale reveals that Homelander (Anthony Starr) still keeps Soldier Boy alive.
While speaking to GamesRadar+ about what Ackles’ role will be like in the upcoming season of The boysThe series’ showrunner said: “You know, we realized that we hadn’t explored the father-son relationship between Homelander and Soldier Boy very much yet.
“There’s a lot of material there, about how the soldier feels about Homelander, how Homelander feels about his father, and so we really wanted to delve into that relationship.”
He also spoke about Soldier Boy’s relationship with Butcher, saying, “Soldier Boy is really driven to kill Butcher after Butcher betrays him in season 3. So he’s just an excellent antagonist, to switch sides and basically, you know, hang with the superheroes.”
There’s an interesting dynamic between these two characters to play with, and it’ll be interesting to see what they do with them in relation to the overall story arc of the series and their characters.
In providing an update on the series, Kripke previously said, “We’ve been in the writers room for about a month now, so we have some pretty interesting ideas.”
He continued: “It’s a very raw, lava-esque thing right now. It hasn’t gelled into anything yet, but I’m excited. I think there’s been some crazy talk, that’s for sure.”
Every season the series does crazy things and I’m sure they will surprise us once again with the fifth season.
The series also features the participation of Charles Urban like The Butcher, Jack Quaid like Hughie Campbell Jr., Erin Moriarty like Annie January/Starlight, Jessie T. Usher like Reggie Franklin/A-Train, Laz Alonso like Marvin T. “Breast Milk”, Author: Chace Crawford like The Deep, Tom Capone like Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara like Kimiko, Italian:Nathan Mitchell like Black Noir, and Colby Minifie like Ashley Barrett.
