STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW to introduce new droid SM-33 voiced by Nick Frost

Some new details have been shared for Lucasfilm and Jon Watts’ series coming soon Star Wars: Skeletal Crew. It was revealed in People Magazine that the series will introduce a new droid called SM 33, and he will be voiced by Nick’s Frost.

Watts provided some details about SM 33: “He’s like a rusty, grumpy old droid who reluctantly helps the kids along the way.”

He adds that Frost’s portrayal of the character is “fun” and “absolutely perfect” and says that “the other thing about him is that he’s the first officer of a mysterious ship.”

Law went on to talk about how the robots were “an inspiration to work with.” He said, “Sure, you expect to work with droids and alien species, but you forget that they’re brought to life in front of you by these amazing people who have skills, whether they’re puppeteers or animatronics experts.”

He continued: “You’re surrounded by them because they’re as much a part of the cast as the flesh-and-blood ones.”

It makes sense that a new droid would be introduced in the series, because in almost every new Star Wars project a new droid is introduced!

The series has been described as “a galactic take on the classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.” The story will follow four young boys on a small planet, who end up lost in the Star Wars galaxy and embark on a journey to find their way home.

The film was pitched to Lucasfilm as “The Goonies In Star Wars,” and it was explained that, although the series features four children, “it is not a show for children.”

The adventure they are on is said to be an intense and dark journey. In the story, four boys make “a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet and become lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies will be an adventure greater than they ever imagined.”

The children in the series are played by Ravi Cabot Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy SmithAND Ryan Kiera ArmstrongThe episodes of the show will be directed by Bryce Dallas Howard, The Daniels, Davide Abbassa, Jake SchreierAND by Lee Isaac Chung. The MandalorianS Mr. Jon Favreau AND Dave Filoni will be executive producer.

The series will debut on Disney+ by Christmas.
