ALIEN: ROMULUS Will Get a Prequel Story From Marvel Comics

Marvel Comics has announced that it will publish a prequel comic for the upcoming film Alien: RomulusThis comic will introduce the story to the events that take place in the movie.

Alien: Romulus centers on a group of young colonists who scavenge a seemingly abandoned space station. However, the station is far from empty and the colonists soon find themselves facing the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The single shot Alien: Romulus #1 will explore the events that occur before the film begins. This will illuminate the backstory behind the film’s main threat before revealing the secrets of the film’s legendary antagonists.

Alien Romulus #1 was produced in collaboration with the director Faith Alvarez and screenwriter Rodo Sayagueswho co-wrote the film.

The prequel comic is written by Zac Thompson (Absolute Carnage: Avengers) and the artwork will be provided by Daniele Picciotto From Force X fame. The first issue will have a variant cover of Bjorn Barends in addition to the main cover of Leinil Francis Yu.

Thompson said in a statement: “The Alien franchise is responsible for my lifelong love of body horror. It goes without saying that I am thrilled to contribute a small piece to the canon.

“Working with Fede Alvarez to create a prequel to Alien: Romulus has been a true dream come true and a responsibility I don’t take lightly. The result is a thrilling and terrifying story that slowly unfolds into something completely unpredictable.”

Alien: Romulus #1 will hit comic book stores worldwide on October 16, 2024, following the film’s release on August 16, 2024.
