The Batman producer Author: Dylan Clark revealed that a new spin-off series for The Batman is in development to expand the universe that Matt Reeves is building.
The news comes shortly after the announcement that the Arkham Asylum spin-off was canceled. There was also a Gotham P.D. spin-off in development, but that was also scrapped.
The only spin-off we know for sure is coming is The Penguin series, the events of which will lead to Batman: Part Two.
Clark shared the information during an interview with Entertainment Weekly to promote The Penguinsaying, “There’s another television exploration we’re going to do.
“We’re looking at the entire world in terms of who Batman is, the antagonists that surround him, all the crimes that need to be dealt with in the city, and trying to figure out what are the best areas to explore.”
He didn’t provide any details on what this other spin-off project will entail, so it will be interesting to see what comes of it and which Gotham City characters it will continue to explore.
I imagine with The Penguin AND Batman: Part Two already coming soon, this next spin-off will be set after the events of Batman: Part Two because it is in an early stage of development.
As for The PenguinSet a week after the events of The Batman, the eight-episode limited series chronicles Oswald Cobblepot’s rise to power in Gotham’s criminal underworld following the death of mobster Carmine Falcone.
The series will introduce Falcone’s adult children, Sofia (Christin Milioti) and Alberto (Michael Zegen), as well as rival mafia boss Salvator Maroni (Clancy Brown).
Happy Rhenzy, Shohreh Aghdashloo’s Diary, Deirdre O’Connell, James Madio, Written by Scott Cohen, Theo Rossi, Carmen Ejogo, Francois Chau, by David H. Holmes, Michael Kelly, Walker Craig AND Mark strong will also be present in the next DC series.
The Penguin The first episode on HBO is scheduled for September 19, 2024.
