For those wondering if there has been any movement for a second season of The Acolyteshowrunner of the series Lesley Promontory he claimed he received “nothing” from Lucasfilm or Disney.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly she was asked about the future of the series and, while she teased some ideas for season two, she explained why she needs to take a break from Star Wars.
Headland explained: “You have to take a break, especially after something like this. I don’t even know how many years my brain has been saying, ‘Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars, Acolyte, Acolyte,’ constantly solving problems, constantly thinking about them.
“It’s very strange to be in a place now where I don’t need to do that. I always tell budding writers, ‘The most important thing you can do is sit down and do nothing. Because the moment you start creating a story, you’re going to get stressed out and the story can’t start that way.'”
She added: “My brain is still doing it. It’s almost like you’re running, you can’t just stop, you can’t turn off.”
So technically, she could just get back to work if Lucasfilm gave her the green light to start developing it. In the meantime, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have been in the Star Wars zone since they released The Mandalorian.
As you’ve seen, though, they’ve also struggled with aspects of Star Wars storytelling. But it’s all part of the Disney machine to continue to churn out Star Wars content, and in that process, the creative teams they bring in will win some and lose some.
It’s just the nature of the franchise beast.
