Hammer Films has released a new trailer for their crazy new take on Dr. Jekyll and Mr. HydeThe film is titled Dr. Jekyll and the stars Eddie Izzard. Izzard now goes by the name Suzy, but the name Eddie is still used in marketing materials.
Dr. Jekyll focuses on “a lonely Nina Jekyll who finds friendship with her new sidekick, Rob, played by rising star Scott Chambers, who must work together to stop Hyde from destroying her life.”
Joe Stephenson directed the film from a screenplay written by by Dan Kelly MulhernThe director previously stated: “There have been over 100 film adaptations of Stevenson’s tale, but there has never been a trans Dr. Jekyll.
“There seems to be an assumption that because Nina is a trans character, we’re somehow going to make it gender-centric. That’s not the case; the themes of our film are true to the original work.”
Scott Rooms co-stars of the film together actress Lindsay Duncan, My Friend Jonathan Hyde AND Simon Callow.
