DC Comics Announces BATMAN AND ROBIN: YEAR ONE Miniseries, Here’s a Preview

DC Comics has announced a new comic book miniseries titled Batman & Robin: Year Oneand we have a preview to share with you.

This 12-issue series will focus on Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson’s relationship outside of crime fighting. It is written by Mark Waida writer and editor for DC Comics, known for his long career on The flash and his work on Kingdom that comesThe artwork will be created by Daredevil artist Chris Samnee.

The story of Batman & Robin: Year One sees Bruce Wayne adjusting to the reality of adopting Dick Grayson. At the same time, a mysterious new crime boss called The General is shaking up Gotham City’s underworld by challenging other mobs.

Bruce and Dick will have to find answers as they navigate both sides of their relationship, both as father and son and as vigilantes.

Waid said in a statement: “At its core, this is not a Batman & Robin story,” Mark Waid explains. “It’s a Bruce/Dick story. It takes place only a month or two after Bruce adopts Dick. And Bruce is realizing he has no idea how to be a father to a child that age.

“He has no role model. His father was long dead when he was Dick’s age. Nothing he’s done has prepared him for this. And Alfred, as wise as he is, doesn’t have much experience here either.”

Samnee went on to talk about why Bruce and Dick complement each other. “Dick is everything Bruce isn’t: fiery, flashy, reckless. But he’s also precise. He can land a perfect landing. He follows orders when they make sense to him.

“But he’s willing to improvise, testing his role within the Dynamic Duo.” Samnee added that the preview pages “show how they’ll act and react as they adventure together in Gotham City on patrol.”

Batman & Robin: Year One Issue #1 will hit comic book stores worldwide on October 16, 2024.
