Here’s a new image from the upcoming film Hellboy: The Crooked Manwhich gives us a new look at the actor Jack Kesy in the role of Hellboy.
The first trailer for the film has gotten mixed reactions from fans, but I’m curious. I doubt the film will be as good as the director’s Guillermo del Toro AND Ron Perlman gave us, but could also give us some funny moments.
The film is directed by Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance AND Crank co-director by Brian Taylor. The script was written by the creator of the franchise Mike Mignola AND Chris Golden.
The story is based on the comic book of the same name and in that story Hellboy teams up with a rookie BPRD agent named Tom Ferrell and they find themselves stranded in the Appalachian countryside in the 1950s.
“There, they discover a small community infested with witches, led by a local devil with a disturbing connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.” The story will “expand the world of Hellboy through one of the most beloved issues of the comic series.”

Mignola previously spoke about the film as the most faithful adaptation to date, but we’ll just have to wait and see how fans react when they see it.
While Kesy’s version of Hellboy isn’t the one we’re used to, The Crooked Man producer The Weldons There had previously been talk of casting him for the role:
“We went on a long soul-searching expedition to find the right Hellboy, and we knew that this Hellboy was going to be a very moody, very dark, very disturbing movie. There’s no shine, nothing like that.
“And Jack, look, I’ve worked with Jack before, as have other guys in our company, and we came to the same conclusion: that kind of personality that he has would work really well for that movie.”
Mignola has previously spoken about the project and when talking about casting Kesy for the lead role, he said, “I’ve never met him [Kesy]. I’ve only seen pictures and I’ve seen it a bit in movies.
“He definitely has the right look. Everyone who’s worked with him says he’s great. This thing is moving really fast, so I think the fact that he’s great and available, he’s a bit of a know-it-all, but I just have to trust that everyone’s right.”
He also spoke about the director Brian Taylor’S (Crank, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Gamer) dark and horror vision of the film that says:
“He’s going to make a horror movie, so it’s going to be good. It’s going to be interesting. I read the new draft of the script yesterday, and yeah, it’s definitely R.
“It’s the first Hellboy script I read and thought, ‘Oh, it’s a horror movie,’ which is what I wanted. Taylor doesn’t have a reputation as a horror film director.
“But so far we’ve had two horror filmmakers make Hellboy movies and we’ve never gotten a horror movie.
“For years we’ve said, if you’re going to make a Hellboy movie, make it small. And the perfect story to do that in is my favorite, ‘The Crooked Man.’ I think it’s one of the best things I’ve ever written.
“It’s beautifully illustrated by Richard Corben, and it’s a solid story that doesn’t involve a million different characters. Everyone was on the same page from the beginning, ‘Yes, we want to do this.’
“In terms of budget, it’s good because it’s a low-budget story. It’s not the origin of Hellboy. It’s not Hellboy saving the world. It’s not huge. It’s a small, subtle, dark folk horror story.”
The film also stars Adelina Rodolfo (Resident Evil), Jefferson’s White (Yellow stone) AS Tom Ferrel, Leah McNamara like Effie Kolb, Joseph Marcellus like Reverend Watts, Hannah Margetson like Cora Fisher, and Martin Bassindale like the Curved Man, among others.
The film is scheduled for release later this year.
