Netflix has announced that the black and white version of Godzilla minus one will be available for streaming starting August 1st!
If you didn’t get a chance to see this version of the film while it was in theaters, it’s worth a watch! This film was so damn beautiful, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the black and white version. The color version of Godzilla minus one is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
When previously it was spoken of Godzilla minus one/minus colordirector Takashi Yamazaki he said: “Rather than just making it monochrome, it’s cut by cut, I asked them to make adjustments taking full advantage of various mattes, as if they were creating a new film.
“What I was aiming for was a style that looked like it was shot by masters of monochrome photography. We were able to discover the texture of the skin and the details of the scenery that were hidden in the photographed data.
“Then, a scary Godzilla appeared, just like the one in the documentary. By eliminating the color, a new sense of reality emerges. Please live and resist further fear at the cinema.”
The ultimate kaiju is back, badder than ever, in the latest installment of the classic Godzilla franchise. Set in the days following the end of World War II, Japan is reeling from the devastation left in its wake after the war. The emotional toll has brought the country to its lowest point.
The story follows failed kamikaze pilot Kiochi (Ryunosuke Kamiki) and Noriko (Minami Hamabe), a woman forced to live without a home, who cares for an abandoned child. During this critical moment, Godzilla marches onto the shore, dragging Japan deeper into chaos and devastation.
