My name is Ryan Reynolds. recently reflected on the first time he played Deadpool in 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverineand shared his thoughts on the stupid decision to sew Deadpool’s mouth shut.
While Reynolds was a good choice to play Wade Wilson/Deadpool, the studio went out of its way to screw it up.
Fans especially loved the whole host of new powers they gave Deadpool! Remember when Logan chopped off his head and the post-credits scene confirming that Deadpool had survived, presumably setting the stage for what would surely be a terrible spin-off?
Fox certainly had some brilliant minds working for them and I don’t understand how Tom Rothaman still manages to develop films after all the bad decisions he made.
However, while talking to Variety about whether he feels Deadpool and Wolverine needs to make up for their last on-screen encounter, Reynolds said: “The first time we worked together on X-Men Origins: WolverineIt’s easy to say we screwed up. Deadpool sewing his mouth shut was one of the silliest notes ever in the studio.”
Despite this, Reynolds is still grateful for the experience. He said, “But at the same time, I’m so grateful. Hugh was a huge influence on me.
“It was the first time I’d seen how a movie star operates on set, and it defied all the preconceptions of a movie star. He was so warm and welcoming. He made the game safe. He knew every single person’s name.”
So while X-Men Origins: Wolverine Although the movie sucked, Reynolds’ experience shooting it was positive.
You know, I just hope that Reynolds’ awesome version of Deadpool comes face to face with X-Men Origins Wolverine.
