Meryl Streep delighted fans of The devil wears Prada this week, when she posted a photo of her chic, bad-ass character, Miranda Priestly, on her Instagram, and simply said, “Miranda will be back ❤️.”
Earlier this week it was announced that a sequel is officially in the works, and Streep is the first cast member to publicly announce her return, though her co-stars Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt AND Stanley Tucci They are in negotiations and are expected to return.
The screenwriter of the first film Aline Brosh McKenna is also in talks to return to write the next chapter. The director of the original film, David Frankelis also set to direct the sequel. While the first film was adapted from by Lauren Weisberger A 2003 novel, it is not yet clear whether Weisberger will be involved in any way in the new project.
We don’t have a confirmed synopsis for the film, but rumors have long been circulating that while the first film focused on Andrea (Hathaway) and Emily (Blunt) navigating the demanding world of Miranda Priestly (Streep), the sequel will focus on Priestly’s efforts to salvage her career amid the challenges facing the print magazine industry.
Emily, now a high-ranking executive at an advertising group, is destined to become Priestly’s formidable opponent.
Whatever the story, I can’t wait to see it unfold. Stay tuned for updates.
