George RR Martin Offers New Update on THE WINDS OF WINTER and Surprise! It’s Not Over Yet

Author of A Song of Ice and Fire George R.R. Martin offered a new update on his upcoming novel the winds of winter after speculation and rumors began to spread that it had already been done.

Really, though, I don’t know how anyone can believe these rumors. Martin hasn’t been working on this book for so long that he’ll never finish it!

Martin recently shared on his Not a Blog page that he will be meeting with his British publishers soon. But, he cautioned, this is not a sign that the novel is finished.

He said: “Last year, when I said I’d seen my Voyager editor in London, the internet went nuts, coming up with all sorts of theories about how this meant WINDS OF WINTER was over and a big announcement was imminent. Uhhhh… sorry guys, but no. That’s not how it works.”

Further down in her post, she said, “It does NOT mean there is a major announcement at hand. It means nothing, really… except a desire to reconnect, catch up, renew old contacts or make new ones… and enjoy a nice meal.

“So please calm down. When WINDS OF WINTER is finished, word will not leak out, there WILL be a big announcement… where and when I cannot say.”

Martin also shared an update on the Game of Thrones stage show opening in London, which will be another prequel to the events of the main novels and TV series.

He said: “HARRENHAL was our first title, as it is set during the fateful tourney at Harrenhal, but now we would lean towards THE IRON THRONE.

“It’s going well, I’m told. Young Ned, Young Robert, Lyanna, Rhaegal, Howland Reed… it should be fun. And fun to play. On stage. The dream is to open somewhere in London’s West End in 2025… but there’s still a lot of work to do.”

Yes, Martin is more focused on this comedy and all the others game of Thrones project he is working on the winds of winterI hope he finishes it, but I won’t hold my breath for it.
