Red-Band Trailer for DC Animation’s WATCHMEN: CHAPTER 1

Warner Bros. has released a red trailer for the DC film Watchmen: Chapter 1the first of a two-part film they are developing.

The film basically feels like a shot-for-shot adaptation of the classic graphic novel created by Alan Moore AND Dave Gibbons.

It is a computer-animated film that is said to represent a “leap forward for our DC Cinematic Animation” and the footage shown at the Annecy Film Festival was described as “very vibrant”.

The style of the film is similar to what Marvel Animation did with the series What If…?.

Guardians tells an alternate history set in the United States, in which superheroes appeared in the 1940s, the United States won the Vietnam War, and the Watergate scandal was never revealed.

In the story, the United States and the USSR are on the brink of World War III, while most of the superheroes are either working for the government or are retired.

It chronicles the moral struggle of superheroes Rorschach, Doctor Manhattan, Nite Owl and others as they return to duty to deal with the murder of Edward Blake, aka The Comedian, a state-sponsored superhero.

I was actually hoping this would be a direct adaptation of the comic and I can’t wait to watch it!
