Here’s a crazy story about a man who was arrested and sent to prison for carrying a small replica of the Master Sword with him. The Legend of Zelda in public.
The man is called Anthony Bray and was sentenced to four months in prison. He claimed that the sword was being used as a toy while he was walking in the town of Nuneaton in England.
However, police argued that the sword could be used as an actual weapon. The police press release notes that Bray was found by officers to be holding “a sharp object that could be used as a weapon and that could have put others in fear that it could be used against them.”
Bray was sentenced on June 28 at Leamington Spa Crown Court and will serve four months in prison and pay a £154 victim surcharge.
Here’s a quote from Sergeant Spellman of the patrol’s detective unit: “We have zero tolerance for sharp objects in public and Bray fell into that situation.
“You can find stress toys that aren’t six-inch blades. You can stop walking down the street with them in front of you. With a little more self-awareness, Bray could have avoided contact with us entirely.”
It might seem like a harsh sentence for a man who carries only a small replica of the sword from The Legend of Zelda, but according to CoventryLive, Bray is a repeat offender who has already served several prison sentences, including for serial burglary.
