Trailer for the 1992 thriller The Los Angeles Riots starring Tyrese Gibson, Scott Eastwood and Ray Liotta

Lionsgate has released the first trailer for the upcoming film 1992which takes place during the Los Angeles riots. The story centers on “a janitor and his son, who quickly find themselves in the middle of a robbery gone wrong.

The movie stars Archery, Bennett Key, Dylan Arnold, Christopher A’mmanuel, Michael Beasley, Ori Pfeffer, Tosin Morohunfola, Oleg Taktarovwith CelebritiesAND Ray Liotta in one of his last film roles.

The synopsis reads: “In 1992, Mercer (Gibson) desperately tries to rebuild his life and his relationship with his son (A’mmanuel) in the midst of the turbulent 1992 Los Angeles uprising following the Rodney King verdict.

Across town, another father and son (Liotta and Eastwood) test their strained relationship as they plan a dangerous robbery at the factory where Mercer works.

“As tensions rise in Los Angeles and chaos erupts, both families reach boiling point when they clash in this tense crime thriller.”

1992 is directed by Ariel Vromen from a screenplay by Sascha Penn and Ariel Vromen and a story by Sascha Penn.

The riots erupted following the acquittal of four LAPD officers for using excessive force in the arrest and beating of Rodney King. The riots resulted in 63 deaths, more than 12,000 arrests, and more than $1 billion in property damage to the city.

1992 will be released on August 30, 2024.
