Purdie Distribution has released the trailer for a wonderful new indie drama titled Tokyo cowboyTo be completely transparent, the owners of GeekTyrant, including myself Joey Paur, Free Reyes and Justin Troung, are the executive producers of the film and we are very proud of it!
The film premiered last year at the 2023 Tallgrass Film Festival, where it won Best Narrative Feature and the Audience Award. It also won Best Dramatic Feature at the Sedona International Film Festival, Best Narrative Feature at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, and Best Feature at the Zions Indie Film Festival.
The film currently has a 100% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, after being long-listed at several film festivals.
The film follows a Japanese businessman who goes on an unwitting journey of self-discovery when he takes a corporate trip from Tokyo to a cattle ranch in Montana.
“Now unstable and unconventional in an alien culture, Hideki recalibrates his values and life goals. Director Marc Marriott and cinematographer Oscar Ignacio Jiménez create a Big Sky setting that could reset any of us in need of self-discovery.”
The synopsis reads: “Brash Tokyo businessman Hideki (Arata Iura) arrives in Montana – known as Big Sky Country – after convincing his bosses in Japan that he can turn a profitable American ranch into a beef resource with excellent performance.
“Yet when his burger-loving Japanese Wagyu beef expert Hardee’s disappoints him, Hideki is suddenly poised to misfire beautifully, unless he identifies a missing element that is the key to the transformation… himself.”
The film was directed by Marco Marriot in his directorial debut and was produced by Brigham Taylor (The Jungle Book, Tomorrowland, Tron: Legacy).
The film is the protagonist Plowed Iura like Hideki, with Ayako Fujitani, Goya Robles, Robin WeigertAND Jun Kunimura.
Purdie Distribution will release Tokyo Cowboy in select US theaters and on VOD on August 30, 2024. This is a classic fish-out-of-water story that audiences will love! We hope you watch it!
