He shared the director’s initial reactions Ti West AND My Gothicthe next horror movie MaXXXinethe third film in a horror trilogy that also includes films X AND Pearl.
The reactions I’ve seen so far have been positive and it’s described as an “80s horror version of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” It is also described as “a great film” and “fun” to watch.
The final chapter of the trilogy is set six years after the events of X, with Maxine, now living in Hollywood, trying to realize her dreams and become a real movie star.
In the film, “As a mysterious killer stalks Hollywood starlets, a trail of blood threatens to reveal his sinister past.” The assassin chasing Maxxine is the Night Stalker.
The cast includes Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, Kevin Bacon, Giancarlo Esposito, Michelle Monaghan, Sophie ThatcherAND Bobby Canavale.
The film will be released in theaters on July 5, 2024. Read the reactions below and let us know if you’re excited to watch this film!
MAXXXINE rules. My favorite chapter of the XXX trilogy. A glorious, epic homage to Los Angeles’ history of cinematic squalor in all its forms, like an ’80s horror version of ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. Some of the loudest pops I’ve heard from a theater audience in recent memory. pic.twitter.com/gJsEljs1oe

Ti West #Maxxxine is a firecracker movie, with an explosive performance from Mia Goth that ranks among my favorites of any performance this year. It’s set in the ’80s, but more importantly, it LOOKS like an ’80s horror movie. Excellent cast. So well done. I loved every second of it pic.twitter.com/rzY35e7UU6

I just saw “MAXXXINE” (2024)
You all know how much I love ’80s B-movies. “Maxxxine” pays homage to those films that I love so much. What a fucking great movie! @a24 @vistahollywood

With #MaXXXinethe Ti West trilogy becomes one of my all-time favorites.
Because I know many will ask: I can’t rank X, Pearl, and MaXXXine for you because I love them all and they are all so distinct. There’s no doubt that one day I’ll be more in the mood to do one… pic.twitter.com/jJ0EPRiqED

Just like the first two films, MaXXXine exudes reverence and enthusiasm for cinema and its evolution. The guaranteed quality of West’s footage continues to amaze me.
Mia Goth also continues to provide exquisite work. It doesn’t take long for her to catch her breath… pic.twitter.com/ONFtrBt7nw

#MaXXXine it’s a blast! Mia Goth is powerful perfection. Kevin Bacon in sleazeball mode (seersucker suit and golden smile). He leans completely on the inspirations of De Palma and Friedkin, paying homage to slashers and bad videos. It hosts the best use of “St. Elmo’s Fire (The Man in Motion)” @maxxxinemov pic.twitter.com/arDLecOrwN

MAXXXINE is a retro, cool and fun time at the movies. Blending ’80s-style horror with noir, Ti West and Mia Goth add more layers to Maxine Minx’s character and ensure a strong thematic resonance between Pearl and X. Goth, in particular, is a force of bravado… pic.twitter.com/R8UPPtkU5j

I’ve seen Ti West’s Maxxxine and I’m not sure how much I want to say before I get a chance to write my review, but it’s an impressive feat to make a trilogy where each individual film is so different from the previous one. Mia Goth is great, but there are many other fun performances too.
