The 2022 film version of Unexplored was easily one of the worst films I saw that year. The entire direction they took the franchise and the script they wrote was just the worst.
Regardless, Sony Pictures is officially moving forward with a sequel. This news was confirmed by Sony’s president of international distribution Steven O’Dell during the CineEurope fair listing the Sony Pictures films currently in production.
No story details were given, but frankly I don’t care. With the way Sony Pictures is handling things over there with some of the properties they have, the sequel is sure to be just as bad as the first film, or maybe even worse.
The producer of the film, Carlo Rovereis a little delusional about Unexplored franchise because he truly believes they made a good movie!
He previously said: “Oh yeah! We really had a lot of fun with that movie. Fans really liked the movie and people who didn’t know anything about the game really liked the movie. So we’re definitely looking to make another one.” of those.”
I have yet to talk to anyone who actually liked the movie, especially fans of the game, so I think he’s just blowing smoke out of his ass. Sure, some people out there liked the movie, I’m just saying I’ve never met one.
I was hoping Sony would scrap any plans for a sequel to the Tom Holland AND Mark Wahlberg movie, but they are moving forward and Holland and Wahlberg are expected to return. Don’t count me out.
