Prime Video announced that it has acquired the animated comedy series Kevinwritten and produced by Aubrey Square AND Joe Wengert. Kevin is about a lifelong housecat who decides he no longer wants to live with people.
Loosely inspired by a real breakup and a cat caught in the middle, Kevin dares to ask, “Is there a world where I don’t do the owner thing and am just…single for the rest of my life?”
Wengert, who serves as showrunner, and executive produces Plaza alongside Dan Murphy. Melissa Wolfe, head of animation at Amazon MGM Studios, said of the project:
“Told solely through the lens of a house cat, this hilarious series touches on the extremely relatable theme of self-discovery and living the life you want. Aubrey, Joe and Dan are telling a fantastic story and this is a great addition to our growing list of cartoons for our global Prime Video customers.
Wengert added: “I’m extremely excited to be working with Amazon and my old friends Aubrey and Dan on this show.
“The real Kevin was with me during some of my lowest moments. This show is my chance to thank him, creating a world where he can find a less disappointing situation for himself.
Does this sound like a series you’d be interested in watching?
