The first teaser trailer for the upcoming horror film has been released Return to Silent Hill along with a behind-the-scenes featurette for fans to watch.
This is a movie I was very excited about because I’m a huge fan silent Hill game franchise and the original film. Return to Silent Hill was directed by Christophe Ganswho directed that original film, which was pure nightmare fuel.
Looks like Gans is about to make another damn great Silent Hill movie! This trailer has all the heavy lifting silent Hill vibrations! The film has been described as more of a psychological horror story.
The plan is to “make it modern, but also very faithful to the video game” and will include familiar monsters, including the nightmarish Pyramid Head, which we see in action in the trailer.
The film will follow James (Jeremy Irvine), “a man broken after being separated from his one true love (Hannah Emily Anderson). When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill to search for her, he finds a once-recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil.
“As James descends deeper into darkness, he encounters terrifying figures both familiar and new and begins to question his own sanity as he struggles to make sense of reality and hold on long enough to save his lost love.”
Gans spoke about the film saying: “Return to Silent Hill it’s a mythological love story about someone so deeply in love that they’re willing to go to hell to save someone.
“I am delighted that the wonderful talents of Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson accompany us on this journey into the world of psychological horror that I hope will satisfy and surprise Silent Hill fans.”
Producer Vittorio Hadida added: “Christophe and I worked closely with our partners at Konami, as they updated the video game, to also create a version of Silent Hill for today’s movie audiences.
“You’ll still find the iconic monsters, but there will also be new designs. We are confident that this new film and Konami’s updated game together will push the franchise forward for years to come.”
Gans had previously spoken about the story saying: “The film tells the story of a young boy who returns to Silent Hill, where he met a great love and what he finds is a pure nightmare.”
Gans co-wrote the screenplay Sandra Vo Anh AND William Josef Schneider. This will be the third official live action Silent Hill film.
Return to Silent Hill It doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will arrive soon, this year. Check out the trailer and featurette below!
