George Lucas created something special and epic with Star Wars. When Disney purchased Lucasfilm, many fans knew this Star Wars it was never going to be what Lucasfilm originally intended it to be.
It was common sense to think that Disney didn’t really care about Lucas’ true vision for the franchise, as they would just do whatever they thought would make money.
They would hire writers and directors to run things and do what they wanted without really thinking about the world that Lucas had built and the rules in it.
Lucas recently addressed all of this and confirmed that many of his ideas date back to the original Star Wars they were lost after selling Lucasfilm to Disney.
The director said: “I was the one who really knew what Star Wars it was…who really knew this world, because there is a lot to say.”
He continued, “The Force, for example, no one understood. When others started after I sold the company, many of the ideas were there [the original] in a certain sense he got lost. But that’s how things are. You give up, you give up.
It’s a shame that some of those original ideas were lost in the Star Wars projects made under Disney ownership, but that was expected! JJ Abrams AND Ryan Johnson it certainly didn’t do the Star Wars franchise any favors.
Lucas sold Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4.05 billion. Disney has been producing ever since Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars StoryAND Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Disney has also produced several live-action Star Wars TV shows The Mandalorianfollowed by The Boba Fett book, Obi-Wan Kenobi, AndorAND Ahsoka. The Acolyte AND Skeleton crew will arrive on Disney+ in 2024.
With Dave Filoni leading the creative charge at Lucasfilm, hopefully Star Wars will get back on track and closer to Lucas’ original vision and ideas.
