Ernie Hudsonwho played a key supporting role in the director Alex Proyas’original adaptation of The Raven, recently talked about the upcoming reboot and explained why he doesn’t want to watch the movie. She also shares how she thinks the franchise should be run.
During an interview with Total filmHudson, who played Sergeant Daryl Albrecht in The Crow, admitted he was only able to rewatch the film recently due to the tragic accident that ended Brandon Lee’s life during production.
Hudson said: “Well, it’s very difficult for me. I love The Crow and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it – and I say this now, after all these years. Up until now it’s been very, very difficult.”
Hudson was also asked about the new film, and he says the creative team should have chosen a different character.
He shared: “To me Brandon was The Crow. I love James O’Barr [creator of the character] He’s a good friend and I’m happy to see the franchise move forward, but Eric Draven is Brandon and I think they’re trying to base him on that character.”
The actor continued: “But it’s The Crow and it can be other stories. Brandon, it was Eric, and that version is his. So it’s hard for me to think of anyone else playing that role – to even think about it, it’s a deal breaker.” Done.
He concluded: “But I’m happy for them, this is an industry, there’s a fan base, but let’s make it something else. No one has approached me or had a discussion with me about the new one, and I wish them well. But I have no desire to check it out, it’s too much emotion to add to it.”
In the new film: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Bill Skarsgard) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when demons from his dark past reach them.
“Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric decides to seek ruthless revenge on their killers, crossing the worlds of the living and the dead to make the wrongs right.”
This version of the film comes from the director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the shell), and also features the singer/actor in the cast FKA Twigs, Danny Houston (30 days of night), Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A son), AND Giordano Bolger (The Woman King).
The Raven reboot will be released in theaters on June 7, 2024. Will you watch it?
