Sometimes Hollywood likes to bring up the same thing over and over again. This movie is not the case. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga it was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in a movie theater in a long time.
For those of you who have been following GeekTyrant, Furiosa was in our top ten most anticipated films of the year. It didn’t disappoint.
This is George MillerThis is my fifth foray into the Wastelands, and I’m happy to say that this has been my favorite trip down the Wasteland rabbit hole. This visually stunning and action-packed prequel/sequel hit all the notes for me.
Every shot was intentional, every sequence had a purpose for the story. Although released backwards, this made Mad Max: Road Fury a perfect companion for Furiosa.
During this year’s CinemaCon, Miller explained this while filming Way of Fury wrote a complete backstory for every character who played an important role in this ongoing story.
That’s where he fell in love with Furiosa’s story and realized he had to bring it to the big screen. His love story with this character was extremely beautiful and tragic, heartbreaking and fulfilling.
I was enraptured throughout the entire two and a half hours of the film. I was so fascinated that I was frustrated at people getting up to go to the bathroom because they would miss something.
The movie was great. I know that word doesn’t do the film justice, but even on the IMAX screen we were watching it on, it didn’t seem large enough to capture the vastness on display.
The craziest part is that you can see that most of the movie was done with practical effects, which made it even more awesome. Everything in this movie was bigger than Way of Fury. This film was a true Miller masterpiece and is worth seeing on the biggest screen you can find.
Now let’s talk about acting. To say that the actors truly understood the task would not be giving them enough credit. Casting Chris Hemsworth it was a stroke of genius. He was able to stand out from the rest of the crazies in the country and become by far one of the craziest around.
It starts at 11 and stays there until its last scene. Doctor Dementus was scary in the way he could adapt his madness to fit any scenario to make things even worse. Hemsworth was capable of making his kindness seem the most subtle.
To not take anything away Charlize TheronBut Anya Taylor-Gioia he made that role his own. There was so much that she brought to the role. In the style of George Miller, there were lots of close-ups and quick zooms on people’s faces, and you could read how he felt in every situation. I’m torn about who should play Furiosa in the next chapter of the Mad Max saga.
The real diamond in the rough was Tom Burke who played Praetorian Jack. I really want to delve deeper into his character and what he brought to the table, but I promised not to spoil anything.
I’m so excited for everyone to see it. It will be a conversation starter for a while. This movie too, just like The boy of autumnproves the fact that stuntmen deserve to be nominated for every major film award out there.
The stunts in this film are bigger, badder and more spectacular than ever. There’s no way this movie would be as good as it was without those men who work hard and rarely notice.
That being said, I will give this movie a solid 9. I’m sure with more viewings, it could move up to a 10. Please go check this movie out and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. .
