What is the one mission that every Dungeons & Dragons does the player want to move forward? An escort mission for a group of kobolds. Wait, aren’t you? Maybe you should check it out Kobold Capers: Journey into the Crimson Lair before dismissing the idea.
This third part D&D where adventure comes from Marina Kunz, Florence Mauli, Kai MuriAND Sven Puister and is designed for characters to go from level 5 to level 8.
Now, a quick heads up: I haven’t played this adventure, just checked out the preview, but if you like it, you can pick it up from DMs Guild (affiliate link) for $9.95.
Dangers abound in the rugged wilderness north of Ankhapur. In addition to the Thornwash River and steep mountain passes, many unique creatures have found a home here, far from civilization.
Rumors circulate of a strange and powerful dragon that has made its lair in the Deepwing Mountains. This also made it to pointy ears.
Seven little kobolds want to see with their own eyes whether these rumors are true. After all, they desperately need a new home and a new owner. Since the journey is long and dangerous, they want to hire guards to protect themselves.
What will they find along the way and what awaits them at the end of the journey? There’s only one way to find out.
The basic premise I’ve gleaned is that in Folletto capers you are hired by a group of kobolds to escort them on a journey and ensure they arrive safely. It seems simple enough.
There are a few things though that caught my attention. For starters, I like the profiles the team created for each of the Kobolds. You learn things like that Draconia only wants others to see her as a dragon or that Snek is obsessed with being a cartographer.
I find it adorable. The team also included a mechanic that shows how happy kobolds are with the adventuring party via the Kobold Happiness Scale.
It’s just a fun little thing that shows some of the thought put into this adventure module. I think many D&D parties would have a lot of fun helping these kobolds, and I think they would love it if in a later adventure the DM brought these kobolds back.
With the purchase of Folletto capersyou’ll find a 10-20 hour adventure, 15 new creature stat blocks, a new spell, five new magic items, detailed full-color maps, custom artwork and handouts, and a 3D printable STL file for the final boss!
It’s so cool! If you’ll excuse me, I need to go talk to my group about when we can do this adventure.
