Marvel’s NOVA will reportedly be developed as a Disney+ series and may focus on Sam Alexander

A new report has surfaced stating that Marvel Studios has made the decision to develop it Nova project as a Disney+ series.

A couple of months ago it was confirmed by Marvel’s head of streaming, animation and television, Brad Winderbaum, that Nova was in development. He specifically said that he would like to see a Nova show one day.

This recent news comes from insiders Daniele Richtmannwho said production should begin next year.

He also said that the show will focus on a “young protagonist,” which, if true, means that the story will revolve around the hero’s recent incarnation, Sam Alexander.

When previously there was talk of bringing Nova to life, Kevin Feige he said: “Timing is relative, right? I think I talked about Doctor Strange eight years before that movie came out.

“So ‘immediate potential’ is relative. But clearly, we’re not eschewing the cosmic end of the narrative right at the sweet spot of the Nova Corps and Nova itself.”

He also said, “Nova is… if we have a big board with a group of characters that have more immediate potential, Nova is on that board.”

Winderbaum said of the project: “We love Nova. We’re in the early stages of developing Nova. We have a new system behind the scenes at Marvel Studios.

“We’re more like a traditional studio now. We are developing more than we will actually produce. There are plans to develop Nova. I love Nova too. I also love Rich Rider. I hope it makes it to the screen.

“The world is always chaos. There are always things. You have to conjure these things to make them happen, but I’d love to see a Nova show someday.”

In the comics, Nova’s version of Sam Alexander is a fifteen-year-old from Carefree, Arizona, who lives with his parents and younger sister. He unexpectedly inherits the role of Nova after discovering his father’s past as a member of the intergalactic Nova Corps.

Struggling with sudden responsibility and the mysteries surrounding his father’s disappearance, Sam dons the powerful Nova Helmet, which grants him extraordinary abilities such as superhuman strength, speed, and the ability to fly.

Guided by veteran heroes like Rocket Raccoon and Gamora, Sam learns to balance his new cosmic duties with the daily challenges of life as a teenager. He strives to live up to the Nova Corps’ legacy and his father’s example.

I guess it makes sense for Marvel to go in this direction to appeal to younger audiences. What do you think about the possibility of this version of the character being explored in the MCU?
