Emmy and BAFTA winning actress Jodie Comer (Kill Eve, Free boy) has signed on to star in the psychological thriller Madeline Hynde’s latest ailmentwhich will be directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay he wrote.
Apart from the fact that the film is described as a contemporary psychological thriller, the plot is being kept under wraps. Production on the independently financed film will begin in August in the UK.
Branagh will once again team up with his Belfast producers Tamar Thomas, Laura Berwick and Becca Kovacik, along with Maximum Effort’s Matthew Jenkins and Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau. When word spread in recent weeks that Branagh had his new project ready, the town was abuzz especially after his latest original screenplay, Belfast, it earned him an Oscar. Given how busy she is with Comer, her quick attachment is a good sign that Branagh has another thrilling original story in store for audiences.
Comer will next be seen in Jeff Nichols’ upcoming drama, The motorcyclists, along with Tom Hardy and Austin Butler. The film will be released by Focus Features on June 21, 2024. Comer will soon begin production on director Danny Boyle’s next installment. 28 years later trilogy, alongside Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Jack O’Connell.
