Will Smith says BAD BOYS: RIDE OR DIE won’t just be a “victory lap,” but will “go further” and take “some really aggressive creative shots”

Almost 30 years have passed since then Will Smith AND Martin Lorenzo they teamed up to appear in the first Bad guys movie, and now we’re about to see them return to the roles of police detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett in their fourth film, Bad Boys: Ride or Die.

The stars are serious about tackling a fourth film in the series that has become a fan favorite, and the pair spoke about the venture in a recent interview with Empire, where Smith explained:

“It has to feel like it’s earned the right to be a movie today. I always hate it when you see sequels that are victory laps. In Ride or die we’re doing some really aggressive creative shots. We wanted to push the limits of how much life experience and age specificity you can put into these films. With this film we were very aggressive in extending what you can do in a summer action movie. There’s a spiritual aspect to this and I think people will say, ‘Okay, that’s an interesting evolution for Marcus’ character.’”

Lawrence agrees and is ready to wrestle with bigger things for his character. He joked:

“They found something interesting and different from all the films we’ve done. In four you will see something different. I will go on as long as my brother goes on. It will be very difficult to get rid of me.”

In the upcoming film, Lowrey and Burnett are tasked with clearing Captain Howard’s name, but when they begin that mission, it appears they too are being framed. They then flee while trying to clear their names.

The film is directed by Adil El Arbi AND Bilall Fallahand he is also the protagonist Vanessa Hudgens, Alessandro Ludovico, Paola Núñez, Tasha Smith, John Salley, Eric Dane, DJ Khaled, Ioan Gruffudd, Rhea Seehorn, Joyner LucasAND Quinn Hemphill.

This looks like it’s going to be a really fun sequel! It is currently scheduled for release on June 14, 2024. Can’t wait to check out this summer blockbuster?
