Prime Video has officially announced that it has renewed the hit series The boys for the fifth season. The announcement was made on social media with a promotional video which you can watch below. It was already reported that the series would return for a fifth season, but now it’s official.
It was a really fun show to watch, including the creative team behind it Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen AND Evan Goldbergthey did a fantastic job telling the story of these characters with superpowers.
Amazon MGM Studios head of television Vernon Sanders said in a statement: “The boys is a brash and bold series that continues to captivate our customers around the world by piercing the cultural fabric season after season.
“We are proud of this series that has become a global franchise, and we are thrilled that Eric Kripke and the creative team have more compelling stories to tell all the loyal fans.”
Kripke added: “The boys it could be the best job I’ll ever have. What other show allows me to write about politics, capitalism, family, and genitals exploding, though not in that order.
“The cast and crew are deeply grateful to Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to tell this story for another season. My only problem is that, as this year promises to be free of any conflict or misinformation, we’re not sure what to write.”
Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, said: “Since its premiere, devoted fans around the world have been thrilled.” The boys for this unapologetically wild ride.
“And we couldn’t be more proud of our producers, writers, cast and crew who bring this brilliant madness to life. Now, with the fifth chapter of their story, we can’t wait to see where Eric Kripke goes next The boys go ahead.”
In the fourth season of “The Boys,” arriving this summer, “The world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscular thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating her power.
“Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as leader of the Boys. The rest of the team is fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they must find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”
Kripke previously said he thought the show could ultimately last five seasons with all the original material they would have to work with. He later said that he would stop predicting how many seasons The boys projects.
He said: “I’ve since realized that literally no one in history is worse at predicting the number of seasons a show will have, literally. I’ve learned my lesson and stopped predicting how many seasons these shows will last. You’ll find out in hindsight. Then.”
The boys will premiere its fourth season on June 13 with the first three episodes, followed by a new episode each week, concluding with the epic season finale on Thursday, July 18.
