Aubrey Squareis the film of 2022 Emily the criminal is now getting a TV series adaptation from Legendary Television.
The film’s writer and director, John Patton Ford, will executive produce and also direct the film. Plaza won’t star in the series, but she will be an executive producer.
The story follows Emily, “who is burdened by student debt and locked out of the job market due to a minor criminal record. Desperate for income, she takes a shady job as a “dummy buyer,” purchasing goods with stolen credit cards provided by a charming and charismatic middleman named Youcef (Theo Rossi).
“Faced with a series of dead-end job interviews, Emily soon finds herself seduced by the easy money and illicit thrills of black market capitalism, and increasingly interested in her mentor Youcef. Together, they come up with a plan to take their Los Angeles business to the next level.”
Emily The Criminal was a great movie and I understand why someone would want to adapt it into a series. It could end up being one of those hit shows since the story has that kind of formula that viewers seem to gravitate towards these days.
