Warner Bros. is negotiating to close a seven-figure deal on film rights for the director Olivia Wildethe film adaptation of Rob Liefeld’S Avenger.
It had already been said previously Margot Robbie was supposed to produce the film, but now it’s being reported that she’s looking to star as well, which makes sense.
The film will be written by Poor things scribe Tony McNamaraand it will be produced for you by Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, Simone KinbergAND Audrey Chon.
The film was previously described as John Wick but with a fallen angel. Avenger was originally published in 1995.
Avenger he is an “angel who fights the forces of evil and often comes face to face with demons and monsters. She was the most feared warrior in the celestial army, having broken into Pandemonium, Hell’s outer fortress, alone, to face the devil himself.
“She is a fallen angel, banished from heaven by God after being made to question his love for humans. Avengelyne was stripped of all of her angelic abilities, as well as her great strength and her blood, which, when drawn from her body, could be used as a weapon or miracle, when empowered by quoting Bible verses.
“Avengelyne uses her powers to battle demons on Earth and is being groomed to be humanity’s last hope in the coming Armageddon.”
When Liefeld was developing the film years ago, when the MMA fighter became an actress Gina Carano was to star in the film, he explained why he wanted to bring Avengelyne to the big screen: “Avengelyne resonated so powerfully with audiences because its story of redemption is so relatable.”
She continued: “A fallen angel, condemned to redeem herself by serving humanity, Earth is a foreign environment to her, she must adapt to save herself and humanity. Her dilemma provides humor in the context of the larger plot that drives her journey.
This could make for a fantastic film and they have managed to assemble an impressive array of talent to bring it to life.
