Deleted scene from Marvel’s THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER where Sam and Rhodey bury the hatchet

A deleted scene was released by IGN (via CB) from Marvel’s Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldierthat sees Anthony Mackieit’s Sam Wilson and Don CheadleJames “Rhodey” Rhodes reunites to bury the hatchet and move forward. During their chat, the potential Captain America asks about War Machine’s legs. Cheadle responds that he underwent some sort of new procedure that allowed him to walk again. Not only is it a sweet and fun scene to watch, but it feels quite relevant to the story.

Now we know it’s a setup for Secret invasion, and some people would have wondered and connected the dots even faster. It seemed like Cheadle had always hinted at his plot, even on Marvel’s Instagram, when he talked about bringing Rhodey into the future.

It’s very possible that the next time we see Cheadle will be Armor wars. The actor spoke of this story as a “rebirth” for Rhodey during a previous interview with Entertainment weeklywhere he said:

“What does he want to do? What are his desires outside of relationships with these people we’ve already seen? Who is he when he’s alone?” Cheadle explained. “A lot of this stuff we haven’t seen before, so there’s a good opportunity to explore those things and hopefully create a complete character that now when we see the costume, we see everything else… It’s a rebirth In a way. And we’re going back to this character, but we’ve never gone to the places we’re going in the show, so I feel like we’re kind of getting to know him even after all this time.”
