Happy Death Day star of the franchise Jessica Rothe recently offered an update on the long-awaited third film that fans would love to see made.
Happy death 3 it’s in the works, everything is already decided, but the creative team is just waiting for the studios to move.
Speaking to ScreenGeek, Rothe said: “Well, I can say that Chris Landon he understood everything. We just have to wait for Blumhouse and Universal to get their ducks in a row.
She added: “But my fingers are so crossed. I think Tree [Gelbman] deserves its third and final chapter to bring that incredible character and franchise to an end or a new beginning.”
Rothe previously said that she is confident that one day we will see the third one become a film and a producer Jason Blum he’s saying he’s “working overtime” to get the next sequel into development.
Landon previously shared his idea for the third movie saying, “The idea for the third movie is not set on the same day, if that’s a big spoiler. So it can happen later.
He added: “We’re not dealing with really difficult weather right now. The other films were difficult, because they were set on the exact same day, so they all had to look the same, be the same. The pressure is off there.”
He continued, “It’s definitely out of line right now. I wish it wasn’t, and I know it [Jason Blum, producer] he’s passionate about it, I know I’m very passionate about it, and I know Jessica Rothe is really keen to do it too.
He continued: “I wrote the idea for the third film a while ago. I think we’re all excited about it, because it’s different from the other two movies, so fingers crossed and hopefully our fan base continues to grow, which is something I really enjoyed watching throughout the movie. years, seeing more and more people discover both films. So who knows. There may be a time when it makes sense, and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.”
The story of the first two films featured Rothe as Theresa “Tree” Gelbman, a college student who finds herself trapped in a nightmarish situation. groundhog day-like a time loop.
Then, to add to the craziness, there’s a killer on the loose trying to kill her in that time loop. The second movie then went on and introduced alternate dimensions as well as other fun and weird stuff. I like that they will move the story further down the road.
The director then went on to discuss the potential title for the third film, saying, “There’s no ‘3’ in there! But it’s called Happy death day to us. This is the working title.
Let’s hope Blumhouse moves forward with this sequel!
