Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has been a long time. The story for Furious came while the manager George Miller was developing Mad Max: Road Fury. After all these years, he finally got to make the film!
It turns out that there actually was a finished script for Furiosa before Miller even shot it Way of Fury! The director himself shared this news, telling Games Radar: “We had finished the script for Furiosa before we shot Fury Road.”
Franchise manufacturer Douglas Mitchell he added: “So Furiosa was ready, in a narrative sense, 15 years ago and has been percolating ever since, as things do in George’s brain.”
It was later revealed that there was a point where Furiosa was being developed as an anime project which would be titled The Peach.
Mahiro Maeda was supposed to direct the film. He has worked on projects like the 90s classic Neon Genesis Evangelionsome Studio Ghibli projects and one of The Animatrix shorts.
No other information is given, but a Furiosa anime movie would have been really cool to see! Regardless, I’m still excited for the live-action version coming soon! Anime would have been an interesting direction to go.
In the film, “As the world fell apart, young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great horde of bikers led by the warlord Dementus.
“Crossing the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by Immortal Joe. As the two Tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she scrapes together the means to find her way home.”
The cast includes Anya Taylor-Gioia, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Daniel Webber, Lachy HulmeAND Quaden Bayles.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
