Tron: Ares is currently in production in Vancouver and a new video from the set has emerged Jared Leto walking around wearing his practical light overalls.
The sequel is directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Kon Tiki), and I really hope he manages to make a great movie in the end! This sequel was long overdue.
The film follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, “which is sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humanity’s first encounter with AI beings.”
Most of the footage we’ve seen is set in the real world, but don’t worry, parts of the film will also take place in the digital world. I’m excited to see how the story unfolds as these two worlds collide.
The film is also the protagonist Cameron Monaghan (Star Wars Jedi), Evan Peters (WandaVision), Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith (Without remorse), Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo CastroAND Gillian Anderson.
Rønning previously spoke about the film, saying, “I’m thrilled to be part of the TRON franchise and to bring this new film to fans around the world. TRON: Ares builds on a legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it seems like the right time to return to the Grid.”
Jesse Wigutow AND Jack Thorne wrote the screenplay. The film will arrive in theaters on October 10, 2025.
