ARCANE Star Says Season 2 Will Be “Devastating”

One of the shows in development right now that I’m most excited about is League of Legends animated series Arcane. This is a show that can’t come back soon enough, but the creative team is hard at work developing a show that fans will love.

During an interview with TechRadar, voice actor of the series Ella Purnell they talked about their work at Amazon Fallbut during the conversation, the actress teased what we can expect from Arcane season 2, saying it will make you cry.

She shared, “Oh man, I’m trying to remember [season one] because it happened more than two years ago. I actually just went back to the studio to complete some ADR scenes for the season 2 finale – and I cried. So I think other people will cry too. It’s devastating and no one will feel good after seeing it.”

No one will feel good after watching this!? Well, that doesn’t sound good! While a happy ending may not be in store for Season 2, I am still confident that the creative team will craft a strong story.

Purnell will play the role of Jinx in the series together Hailee Steinfeld like Vi. The two sisters find themselves on opposite sides of a conflict in the utopian city of Piltover and its poor underbelly, Zaun.

When it comes to the story of Jinx and Vi, “In the midst of growing unrest between the wealthy, utopian city of Piltover and its squalid, downtrodden underbelly of Zaun, sisters Vi and Jinx find themselves on opposite sides of a brewing conflict about conflicting beliefs and arcane technologies.”

Season 2 has been in development for years and when it comes to why development took so long, Riot Games CEO Nicolò Laurent he previously said: “It’s not ready and there yet [are] two reasons for this. One, you want quality.

He added: “We just don’t want to rush it and so this takes time. So that’s the good reason. The bad reason is that, honestly, we didn’t know if Season 1 was going to be a success, so we didn’t start Season 2 until [later]. If I had known, we could have started season two much earlier. But we didn’t know, so we waited a while and now we’re paying the price. So, unfortunately, it won’t be this year.”

You can take a first preview look Arcane Season 2 here. The series will be released in November 2024.
