A new trailer has been released for the heartbreaking father-son drama, Nowhere specialhero James Norton (Grantchester, Happy Valley, Little Women), Daniele Lamont, Carol Moore, Valene Kane, Keith McErlean, Eileen O’HigginsAND Laura Hughes.
The film is written and directed by Uberto Pasolini (Machan, Still life). It initially premiered at the 2020 Venice Film Festival a few years ago, and has already released in the UK in 2021.
The synopsis reads: “James Norton plays John, a 35-year-old window cleaner, who has dedicated his life to raising his 4-year-old son, Michael (played by Daniel Lamont), after the child’s mother abandons them. immediately after giving birth.”
When John is given only a few months to live, “he tries to find a perfect family for Michael, determined to protect him from the terrible reality of the situation. Although initially certain of what he seeks in the perfect family, John gradually abandons his initial beliefs, overwhelmed by doubts about the decision.”
“How can you judge a family from a short meeting? And does she know his son well enough to make this choice for him? As John struggles to find the right answer to his impossible task, he comes to accept the help of a young social worker, opening himself up to solutions he would never have considered.
“And he finally comes to accept his anger at the injustice of his fate and situation, the need to share the truth with his son and to follow the child’s instincts in the most important decision of their lives.”
It looks difficult. I like drama, but man, this seems so damn sad. James Norton is a fantastic actor and looks like he gives a fantastic performance.
Nowhere special will be released in select theaters in the United States on April 26, 2024. Watch the trailer below:
