Production of the new one has officially begun Karate Kid film, which stars Ralph Macchio AND Jackie Chanwho are reprising their iconic roles from the franchise.
The film is also the protagonist Chinese born in America actor Ben Wang like the next Karate Kid, and there’s a photo from the set of Wang holding the clapboard.
Macchio will reprise his role as Daniel LaRusso, and Chan will take on the role of Mr. Han, the kung fu master of the Jaden Smith movie. The film “will mark a continuation of the mythology of the original franchise.”
The film’s story will be set on the East Coast and will focus on “a Chinese teenager (Wang) who finds strength and direction through martial arts and a tough but wise mentor (or two).”
The film will be directed by Jonathan Entwistle (The end of the damn world) from a screenplay written by Rob Lieberwith production by Karen Rosenfelt.
Karate Kid even stars Joshua Jackson in an undisclosed role and will be released on Sony Pictures on December 13, 2024.
