It is said that Spiderman AND Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi is in the running to direct Marvel’s next two Avengers filmsThe Kang Dynasty AND Secret Wars.
The fan-favorite director has now addressed those rumors, and these are films he’d love to direct… if Marvel asked him.
Raimi was at WonderCon this past weekend to promote his new film The boy kills the worldand during an interview with Screen Geek, he was asked to direct the big finale of Marvel’s Multiverse Saga, and he hopes they give him the opportunity.
Raimi responded: “I love 90% of the Marvel heroes I’ve read in the great Stan Lee Marvel Universe comics. I would love to work with Marvel again. They didn’t reasonably ask me. I hope they had an opportunity.” nice experience with me. They haven’t asked me yet. I hope they do.”
I love that this is a directing assignment Raimi would love to take on. He’s a great director who makes fun films and it would be great to see him back in the Marvel fold to direct the next two Avengers films.
Recently the director was also asked about directing Spider-Man 4, to which he replied: “Well, I haven’t heard of it yet. I’ve read it, but I’m not working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with the current Spider-Man [movies]and the track there, and I don’t know if they’ll come back to me and say, ‘Well, folks, we can tell that story too!’”
He added, “I’m not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies,” he continued. “I liked it Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was a really super powerful sight Tobey [Maguire] back into it.”
We’ll just have to wait and see if Marvel Studios asks Raimi to return. I hope they do! If not, I would definitely love to see Raimi direct more horror films!
Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars to follow on May 7, 2027.
