It seems Iron fist star Finn Jones could tease his return to the role of Danny Rand. Even though Marvel made the Netflix Defenders shows canon, I didn’t think they would bring Jones back because he was the worst of the bunch. But maybe him returning to Iron Fist isn’t so far-fetched.
The actor recently shared a photo on his Instagram story that showed a Power Man and Iron Fist comic inside a travel bag. There was also a copy of The Neverending Story, which could be some other kind of clue to what he’s doing.
I don’t know, maybe these are things he just learned and wanted to show off? The comic appears to be in an acrylic collector’s display case, so he definitely doesn’t seem willing to read it. Some fans think he’s headed to the set of Daredevil: Born Againwhich is currently filming.
A couple of months ago there was a report that Marvel was in development on a female-led Iron Fist series with Danny Rand in a supporting role. The plan is supposedly for the new story to put the spotlight on a female protagonist and there has been talk of at least an animated adaptation.
I would actually be very open to a series focusing on Jessica Henwick’s Colleen Ala. She was the best part of the Iron fist series!
Jones previously said he would love the opportunity to play Iron Fist again saying he wanted to “prove all those motherfuckers wrong.” He said: “I’d like another chance. I care deeply about Danny Rand, I believe in that character, I think there’s a lot of work to be done. There’s something about the underdog, you know? I love the underdog narrative. I love the ability to prove someone wrong, and I want to prove all those motherfuckers wrong. I know I have that in me and I know I can give the Danny Rand performance that the fans want and that’s possible.”
Speaking about Jones’ work ethic on the series, Iron Fist’s stunt coordinator said that Jones didn’t even want to train for his fight scenes! He said, “Everyone’s fighting and the actor doesn’t want to train and… ‘Guys, throw me a bone. Give me something to work with here.’ This is probably why the best sequences were with Jessica Henwick because he trained four hours a day and had no experience in martial arts.”
If Jones actually gets another shot at this role, it sounds like he’ll dig in and work hard. But many fans believe he was wrong from the start. What do you think?
