A new trailer recently came out Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and has fans excited to watch the next film in the epic and crazy action franchise. One thing I’m sure you all noticed in that trailer was a narrative that tells the story of Furiosa and her journey back home.
It turns out that the narrator is actually a character from the franchise, and is known as “The Story Man”. He is explained by George Miller that since the film takes place over multiple decades, one of the only ways information can be preserved and disseminated into the world is through people in the story gathering information about pertinent figures and events.
Miller shared with Entertainment Weekly: “That’s a narrator called History Man. In this story, we meet History Man, and because it’s a saga – Fury Road takes place over three days and two nights; this movie takes place basically 16 years from when he’s 10 to 26, it goes a little further when he turns 28, but it’s basically more than that 16 years – and we meet this character, and he’s integral to the story. So, he’s the narrator.”
Miller also stated that these people from history are “the only way culture or information is preserved or shared.” It will be interesting to see how this History Man ends up being incorporated into the story.
The director previously spoke about the story, saying: “The story tells the saga of Furiosa, and how she gets taken away from home and spends the rest of her life trying to get back. [In] Way of Fury, the story takes place over three days and two nights. This film follows the story as it intertwines directly Way of Furyfor 15 years.”
He continued, “It’s a different animal… It’s got a lot of different locations. It’s an odyssey. No questions asked.”
In the film, “As the world fell apart, young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a large horde of bikers led by Warlord Dementus. Traveling through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe As the two Tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she marshals the means to find her way home.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
