Thomasin McKenzie, Bill Nighy and James Norton star in teaser for Netflix film JOY about the creation of in vitro fertilization

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for their upcoming film Joyhero Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Last night in Soho), Bill Nighy (Current love, About the weather) AND James Norton (Grantchester, Little Women). The film tells the story of the doctors who designed the in vitro fertilization (IVF) process. The film is directed by Ben Taylor (Chevrolet, The circuit, Raised by wolves) from a screenplay written by Rachele Massone AND Jack Thorne.

The film’s synopsis reads:

Joy tells the extraordinary true story behind the revolutionary birth of Louise Joy Brown in 1978, the world’s first “test tube baby”, and the tireless 10-year journey to make it possible. Told through the point of view of Jean Purdy, a young nurse and embryologist, who joined forces with scientist Robert Edwards and surgeon Patrick Steptoe to solve the puzzle of infertility pioneering in vitro fertilization (IVF). The film celebrates the power of perseverance and the wonders of science as it follows this trio of visionaries who overcame enormous odds and opposition to realize their dream, and in doing so allowed millions of people to dream with them.

I don’t think many people know how this medical procedure happened, and it looks like this film will do a great job of telling a groundbreaking historical story. Check out the teaser below and keep your eyes peeled for the release date of Joywhich will be released on Netflix this summer.
