Iconic genre filmmakers Joe Dante AND Roger Corman are collaborating with producer Brad Krevoy, on a new film project entitled The little shop of Halloween horrorswhich is a reboot of Corman’s classic 1960 horror comedy, Little Shop of Horrors.
The retelling will kick off an entirely new film franchise and will be directed by Dante (Gremlins, The Howling), from a screenplay written by Charles S. Haas (Gremlins 2: The New Batch), co-produced by Corman and Krevoy.
There are no details to share regarding the story, but the original film starred a young Jack Nicholson and tells the story of a florist named Seymour who discovered a strange plant hungry for human flesh. As the plant grows, Seymour begins to feed it to satisfy his desire. It’s a wonderfully dark and twisted and funny film.
The film was later adapted into an Off-Broadway musical in 1982, which was in turn adapted into the classic 1986 Frank Oz film starring Rick Maranis and Steve Martin.
I’m curious to see what comes of it The little shop of Halloween horrors! The only thing we know about the plot is the fact that it will most likely be set during the Halloween season. As a fan of the films Dante and Corman have made throughout their careers, I can’t wait.
