Apple TV+ has released the trailer for the upcoming historical limited series Franklinstarring the two-time Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas (Wall Street, Ant man), who plays the American inventor and politician Benjamin Franklin. He is joined in the cast by Noah Jupewho plays his son William Temple Franklin, as well as Marc Duret, Ludivine Sagnier, Thibault de Montalembert, Daniel Mays, Assaad Bouab, Jeanne Balibar, Théodore Pellerin, John HollingworthAND Eddie Marsan in the role of John Adams.
The synopsis of the series reads:
In December 1776, Benjamin Franklin became world famous for his electrical experiments. But her passion and power are tested when he embarks on a secret mission to France, with the fate of American independence hanging in the balance. Explore the story of one of the biggest gambles of Franklin’s career. At age 70, Franklin managed to defeat both British spies and French informers as he engineered the Franco-American alliance of 1778.
Franklin it is written by Kirk Ellis (John Adams, Sons of Liberty) AND Howard Korder (Waterfront empire, Perry Mason). The story is based on Stacy Schiff’s 2005 book “A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America.” All 8 episodes are directed by Timothy Van Patten (The Sopranos, game of Thrones, Black mirror, Perry Mason, Lords of the Air).
This seems like a very interesting time in America’s history, and although it takes place in France, it shows the relationship between our countries and France’s help in the birth of our nation. Check out the trailer below and watch Franklin when it premieres on Apple on April 12.
