I was a fan of both Ready Player One novel e Steven Spieilbergthe film adaptation of. I know there are a lot of differences between the two, but I liked the movie for what it was, and it was really damn fun!
There are fans wondering if we will ever see a film adaptation of the sequel, Ready Player Two. I wasn’t a fan of that book, so if the movie eventually gets made, they can change the story all they want.
A few years ago it was announced that the film was in early development. But now Spielberg has offered a recent update. Speaking to Showbiz 411, Spielberg confirmed that he is only a producer on the project and that “We’re in the discovery phase, trying to figure out what’s next.”
So, it looks like the film still has a long way to go before we see it on the big screen, if that ever happens. There’s a chance that Warner Bros. isn’t interested in making a sequel because the first film wasn’t the smash hit the studio hoped it would be.
Speaking previously about the film, the book’s author, Ernest Clinehe said, “It’s in the early stages right now, especially because Hollywood is in limbo right now. But I can tell from the experience of shooting the first movie that everyone had a great time. We talked about the possibility of there being a Ready Player Two when we were doing Ready Player One. In Hollywood you never know. I really tried my best to just focus on writing the sequel to my book. There are characters in the movie who are alive but aren’t in the book. I focused on trying to give the book to the fans without letting the movie influence me. The movie will resolve itself later.”
