Trailer for Troma’s cannibalism musical comedy SWEET MEATS

Troma has produced a new horror film in the form of a musical comedy about cannibalism called Sweet Meats, and they just released the trailer! If you are a fan of Troma’s style of exploitation cinema, then you will definitely appreciate what this film has to offer. You can watch the teaser trailer below, but to watch the full trailer you’ll need to head over to Fangoria.

The synopsis for Sweet Meats reads: “Bobby Sweet is a country music legend and has been the world-renowned face of ‘Sweet Meats’ since he founded his first restaurant with his wife in 1978. How did his restaurant grow to take off so quickly, and what? Does it make the meat so damn sweet? Sometimes a “secret ingredient” should stay that way. They always say, “You would be disgusted if you knew what you were really eating!” They might be right…”

I’ve also included the poster below by artist Marc Schoenbach of Sadist Art Designs. The film was written and directed by Ricky Glore, who said in a statement:

“I love films like Head by the Monkees, Brian De Palma’s Phantom of the Paradise, Roger Corman’s Little Shop of Horrors, Motel Hell and This Is Spinal Tap, but not in a million years would I have thought of making my own film that it felt like all that stuff had gone into a blender. Besides having the feel of a late 70s Southern exploitation film you’d see at the drive-in, it also has fantastic music by arranger/composer David Kornfeld with Nick Vidas on instruments, Wonky Tonk, Dustin Matthew Taylor, country music legend Bobby Mackey, original songs by me and a song by the heavy metal band DemonScar.

“The poster reminds me of those boxes you’d see in video stores back in the day,” he continues, “and then you’d read on the back that it’s a horror/comedy/musical and you’d think, ‘Oh, I have to see this!’ And the trailer looks like it should be shown before the Jerry Reed/Peter Fonda movie High-Ballin’ or Burt Reynolds’ Whitand Lightning.”

Glore is also the protagonist Sweet Meats next to Eileen Ernesto, Timmy Hart BarronAND Andrea Gordon.
